View Full Version : Logos and Locos
I have 14 logos (some historic, some not) and 16 or so train skins (not historic except for one Class A1).
Should I zip these up in two files - one logos, one locos - and upload them, or is there a better way?
Logos include Chinese Blue Star, L & N, Lehigh Valley, Ma & Pa, N & W, North Carolina RR, old-style Pennsylvania RR, Red River and Sierra.
Locos include green Baldwin 060; black and gray American 440 (2 separate trains); gold Consolidation; red and blue Atlantic (2); red and blue Pacific (2); blue, green, blue & yellow, copper, black & red, red & tiger-striped 2-D-2 (7 - I love this loco), green Class A1. May or may not have others finished - working on diesels & modern electrics now.

I guess it all depends on how big the zips are. I'm sure people would like to have the logos separate from the trains, but as for refining it further, I'm not sure if that's necessary.

I haven't tried either program. Are the skins or logos only good on my computer & program? Would they need to be encluded if a new map was posted so another player could insert them before they played the map. Or is there a way to include each in a new map to be used on someone elses computer?
After changing the skin, is there a way to change the loco characteristics as well?
The logos are about 50 KB zipped; the locos are 4.25 MB zipped. I'll wait to hear from the Webmaster before I try to upload these. Assuming it is OK, I'll start a comment thread in the skinning area then.
Logos, Locomotive skins and Player Portrairts are placed in the User Extra Content folder. Once there, they can be used in any scenario (the new loco skin is only available if the original loco is available, of course). As far as I know, once a Logo, Skin or Portrait is packed in a PK4 file it can go to any RRT3 game.
If you want or need new skins, logos and portraits for a scenario then you MUST provide the files and they MUST be put in the User Extra Content folder of the person who plays the game. They aren't bound into the scenario, if that was what you were asking, but are separate.
I don't know anything about changing the locomotive characteristics - sorry. Someone was working on that over at the Gathering site (or whatever it is called these days).

Yes, I have made a loco mod that hopefully will enhance the game.

I think that I included the Python program that was used to mod the characteristics. I would upload the mod on this site if there only was a category for me to put it in. It is after all neither a map, scenario, logo, portrait nor skin.

I've no problems with files that size :) The new server has currently... (goes and checks) around 50Gb of space free so I don't think it'll be a problem :)
Can't wait to see 'em :)

You could put them all in one ZIP file, but in separate folders within the ZIP. Then folks could unzip them all, or easily pick and chose which ones to unzip without having to decipher whether they were logos or skins.

I think having them as separate zips is better, that way there's no confusion. Wants the logos, download the logo zip, want the trains, download the trains zip. Want both, download both zips ;)
