Hi.
I will try to explane my problem in my bad english.
I'm making a map of Sweden Norway and Denmark.
In Sweden I have severels territories.
I have access right cost very heigh, so when the game begin, the access
is just in "Kronobergs Län".
What I want is:
If I have been plaing in 5 yeares and
I have connected 3 citys and
company book value >= 4 milj then the access right to "Kalmar Län" would be free.

How can I do that?
Is it possible?

Hehe, thanks.
This is working just fine now.
I have another question, it's about port.
I was not thinking so very hard, I'd just place a lot of ports, thinking that I could find them and give som diffrent cargo.
But loking at the map, there was no id (like the city).
How can I fix this, or am I force to delete al and build one at time?

Ports and Warehouses can be tricky, all right.

When you scroll down the list of buildings, in the list of buildings that start with 'P' will be 'Port'. This is actually Port/Warehouse combination 1.

At the bottom of the scroll-down list will be a list of 'Port's; these are Port/Warehouse 2 through 12. The only way to place the right one is to count down from the top or up from the bottom.

The best way to tell them apart is to set your Port/Warehouse each selections to something different and then look on the map to see which is which.

Sorry there is no easier way...

If this helps:

I give each port a name.

Example: I always start counting from # 12. This way if I don't need 12 ports I don't have to look for #1.

My #12 might be #12 Farm, to indicate the port either supplies or demands farm cargo. Or, I may use a cargo name #12 iron demand.

I agree the ports can be kind of a pain to work with.

If you want to demand or supply passengers and mail from a port, use the Gwizz Port that PJay made for me.

Thanks for trying to help me, so far no succeed.
I have to ask, what is "Gwizz Port "?

It is a extra file you can install that I think adds a 13th port. It could use another ports space. I forget. The dock looks taller than a normal dock since it in a hybrid of a port and a station with a spur track.

Did you ever figure out how the ports work?

Well, it diden't work for me.
I change the cargo on one port, and try to find that port on the map but
I fail. After 6 - 8 houre I decided to give up, thanks anyway.

From my experience, manually placing ports in the editor is not very effective. It seems that ports are best assigned to a city, and then let the game place the port.

Even then it's not 100% sure the port will generate. Sometimes. if an assigned port doesn't generate, quite the scenario and reload it and the port will usually be there then.
Hope this helps.
Others may have more information to add or may prove me wrong. If so, then I will learn something too. :D

I manually placed the ports in 'American Civil War' and have had no problems with them. I've also placed ports outside a city and had a non-city region generate ports.

The problem I have is telling one from the other when I'm scrolling down the tiny little list and trying to count! :D

I knew they'd work in regions. I forgot to mention that.
I've not had much luck with manually placing them. I must be doing something wrong.
You still have to assign them to a city or region and assign them a cargo recipe, don't you?

Yes, the city or region has to have the port or warehouse enabled in the industry check-list on the right-hand side of the city/region page. Then you can select the port/warehouse you want, and if the percentage chance is high enough (and the gods of Random smile) the city or region will build a port.

I haven't tried (for example) manually placing Port #1 in a city/region set up for Port #2 or in a city/region with no port/warehouse set up. Don't know what would happen then. All I've ever done is put the Savannah port in Savannah, etc. Those work fine for me.

I'm currently working on a light, fun game called 'Japanese Miracle' that deals heavily with ports. It's set in post-WWII Japan and is about 50-50 rail and industry, so there's lots of supply, demand and swapping.

Also I've been expanding(!) American Civil War. Version 3 is being tested and may be offered.

I'll keep my eye out for both maps. :D

EPH,

I spent a lot of time last year working on just such a map. I called it "Almost Japan" as it was mostly my ideas of how to make the game represent some of what happened in post-war Japan.

It was coming along great but I got bogged down in the events and cargo etc...bascially it was a lot of hauling steel, tires and autos to get the industry back on it's feet. Then my wife got pregnant and I haven't worked on it since.

I would be REALLY interested in your map and maybe doing some beta testing for ya!

Cheers!

You can download Japanese Miracles in this file library or mine, which can be found here (http://hawkdawg.com/rrt/rrt3/map_arch/map_index.htm).
There are a lot more maps available in the map archive at my site as well.

hachiroku, I'd be very interested in hearing what you have to say about 'Japanese Miracle'. There's a comment thread about it at Hawk's site (see link in his post above or go to www.hawkdawg.com).

I did research to try to get the events and 'feel' correct, but I'm fairly sure my ports don't deliver or demand the cargos they do in real life. I could find lots of info on imports and exports but very little data as to which port was used.

It's a fun scenario with lots of (re)building and some pretty scenery for track. Oh, you get to play with Shinkansen, too! They're nice. :D

Just keep your eye on the industrial goals and don't forget to generate lots of electric power. :)
